Sports coaching: a path to a healthy and balanced life - Interview with Anne-Florence, passionate sports coach
1. Can you tell us a little about yourself and your journey as a sports coach? What motivated you to choose this career path and what are your main values and approaches in working with clients?
My name is Anne-Florence and I have been a sports coach since 2005. I first worked in many gyms, notably as a leader of group classes. I have also held positions of responsibility as a fitness manager. Following an injury (ACL tear), I decided to give new impetus to my career by devoting myself to individual support to take care of my clients in a more personalized way. I chose this professional path to have an active job in contact with people and help them improve their quality of life. Being an avid gymgoer, I quickly realized that it was a no-brainer for me. In my approach, I place people first. It is essential to take into consideration your environment and your emotions in order to support them as best as possible. 😉
2. How can practicing sports contribute to a healthy and balanced life?
Sports practice is essential to maintain adequate muscle mass, which allows you to better face daily challenges without risk of injury. On a psychological level, sport allows you to free yourself from stress, channel your anxieties, push your limits and be proud of yourself. In short, physical activity is the BEST MEDICINE.💪🏻
3. What are the biggest challenges your customers face when it comes to maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle? How do you support them to overcome these challenges and adopt sustainable habits?
The main challenges my clients face are lack of time, motivation and knowledge. There is no magic solution, it is important to recommend that they move more on a daily basis, in addition to coming to the studio to train once or twice a week.🤸🏻♀️ I encourage them to avoid the elevator , getting off the bus or metro earlier to finish on foot, not using escalators, etc. I help my clients organize their schedule if necessary, I recommend that they keep a food diary and I remain available to answer their questions or direct them to other professionals who can help them.
4. What role does diet play in achieving health and well-being goals? How do you integrate nutritional advice into your sports coaching approach?
Diet accounts for approximately 80% of achieving health and well-being goals. This is an essential pillar that should not be neglected. I ask each of my clients to keep a food diary for at least five days to better understand their eating habits and to provide them with some advice. 🧾 In addition, they benefit from a consultation with a specialized nutritionist to best meet their expectations.
5. In your opinion, what are the best types of foods or nutritional strategies that can help optimize sports performance and promote recovery after exercise?
Hydration is essential above all. 💦After exercise, it is essential to replenish carbohydrate and protein reserves to promote better recovery. Food choices also depend on the type of effort, its duration and the environmental conditions in which it is carried out.
6. How do you balance nutrition and different forms of exercise for your clients? Are there any specific recommendations you make based on their individual needs and goals?
I talk a lot with my clients about nutrition before and after exercise. We address questions such as “What should I eat?”, “How soon before?”, “What next?”. Indeed, there may be specific recommendations based on their needs and objectives.
7. What are your recommendations for maintaining motivation and consistency in a long-term training program? How do you help your clients stay on track?
I congratulate my clients, encourage them and show them the progress they have made. Sometimes it is necessary to take a step back to realize this progress. Together we set intermediate steps and goals to achieve in order to maintain their motivation and stay on track. 🚀
8. As a sports coach, what is your feedback on the maju concept and our innovative approach to balanced eating?
It's a very simple way to eat well without having to weigh your food. It is an easy to use method. 👌🏻
9. Can you share some practical tips for our readers who want to incorporate regular physical activity into their daily lives?
Before wanting to run a marathon or achieve any other sporting performance, it is important to start by moving as much as possible in your daily life. Choose an activity that brings you pleasure and don't do anything just watching videos. It is best to consult professionals to benefit from appropriate support. ☀
