coralie diappymed

Breath of fresh air engineer in biological engineering

In the complex field of nutrition and health, it is essential to find passionate experts who guide individuals toward informed food choices. We had the opportunity to interview Coralie, co-founder of DiappyMed 🍐 a company that helps people with diabetes personalize their treatment .

1. To begin, can you introduce yourself?

My name is Coralie, I am 35 years old. I am co-founder of DiappyMed 🍐 a company that helps people with diabetes personalize their treatment. I live in Montpellier, and I am the mother of a 3 year old boy.

2. What does it mean to be a biological engineer? Was it this training that made you want to create Diappymed?

The biological engineering training provides training for careers in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry. For my part, I only had a brief stint in the pharmaceutical industry. I then worked in the field of cancer research, then in innovation strategy consulting . It was during my years in consulting that I began to want to start a business . I then had the chance to meet the right people at the right time: Omar Diouri and Youssef Raqui, my partners. This is how DiappyMed 🍐 was born.

3. What do you think are the most common challenges that people with diabetes face in their daily lives?

People with diabetes who are taking insulin should inject insulin 6 times a day . For each injection, these people must determine alone the dose of insulin that suits them based on their meal, their physical activity and their blood sugar levels. These are complex calculations, perceived as stressful , which add an enormous mental load to daily life 🤯

4. What is the EkiYou application and how can it make life easier for people suffering from diabetes?

EkiYou is a medical device currently undergoing certification. It does not replace the doctor's advice. This is an application 📲 that calculates for the patient the dose of insulin that suits them based on their meal, their physical activity and their diet. It is intended to be simple and intuitive, and has been tested in clinical studies.

5. Diabetes is closely linked to nutrition. Can you share some practical tips for people with diabetes regarding their diet?

My advice is to surround yourself well and speak openly with the healthcare professional 👨‍⚕️👩‍⚕️ who accompanies you. There are dieticians specially trained in diabetes , but also naturopaths, psychologists, etc. Surrounding yourself well is key!

6. How does the EkiYou app integrate diet management to help diabetics?

EkiYou integrates a verified food database of over 200,000 foods . There you will find everyday foods, but also store-bought foods and certain restaurant chains. The user will be able to search and select the foods in their meal, then let EkiYou calculate the insulin dose that is right for that meal. This allows users to take their diet into account very precisely 🔍 in their treatment.

7. What is your vision for the future of Diappymed and its potential impact on people with diabetes?

Our dream is to have EkiYou reimbursed by Health Insurance 💸 For this, we are lucky to be supported by many doctors who will help us evaluate the application during specific clinical trials.

8. Besides power management, what other features or tips does the app offer?

EkiYou takes into account physical activity , which is very important for people with diabetes. The app automatically adjusts insulin doses based on activity 🏄‍♀️

9. What do you think about the maju 🥣 concept and how do you think it can help people with diabetes?

I was immediately seduced by the concept of maju . I find it simple and practical. And simplicity is one of the keys to adopting new eating habits . People with diabetes (Type 1 or Type 2) often receive a lot of information about how to factor their diet into their lives or their treatment. It can sometimes be a little difficult to manage all this information. I think that the maju bowl can help these people by bringing more simplicity to their daily lives ❤️‍🩹

10. To conclude, if you had to give one piece of essential advice to people who want to improve their overall health and well-being, what would it be?

I don't know if I'm in the right position to give advice because I'm not a health professional. What I can say as an entrepreneur and a mother is that what helps me is having a good balance between work, family, healthy eating, sport, and moments of rest 🤸‍♀️ And of course, I practice the 80-20 rule to please myself at times!
